2010 Annual food drive organized by the Nepalese Canadian Association of Ottawa (NCAO) culminated in a grand success and exemplary community participation. With this year’s collection of $24,000 (non-perishable food items and cash), NCAO’s food drive to benefit the Ottawa Food Bank raised over $70,000 since 2003.
The final event “The multicultural dance and music show” on Saturday July 31 at Andrew Hydon Park Ottawa performed by 67 talents from 12 cultural communities entertained an enthusiastic crowd of about 1000 in a most pleasant weather. Other activities such as, train ride for children (managed by Barrhaven Lions), auction booths for donated items, and Rogers TV/ Tim Hortons Community Cruiser well-liked by people of all groups.
NCAO volunteers have been working for several weeks in door to door food/ donation collection, and visited over 5000 households in many localities across Ottawa. All communities have been very inspiring to our volunteers, and communities enthusiastically welcomed our volunteers in their neighbourhoods.
This has been promising throughout the exceptional support from many local communities, artists, volunteers, businesses, media, social motivators and activists, and charity lovers. Because of charity-welcoming communities, NCAO community is quickly becoming a popular multi-community charity event in Ottawa, indicating a clear message that a small community, such as NCAO, can make a big contribution to a charity world. Size does not matter to contribute, but the willingness and commitment of the members prevail successes.
NCAO thanks to all supporters for their generous supports and encouragements during the entire campaign.
Look forward to your continuing support and encouragement for our future events.
Thank you,
Krishna H Gautam Coordinator, NCAO Annual Food Drive to benefit the Ottawa Food bank
